The Republican Party now wants to officially investigate repealing the 14th Amendment through Congressional Hearing. Before we actually get to what is in the 14th Amendment, it is important to realize what this means. Sarah Palin and every other Republican candidate seeking the Teabagger (i.e. the Republican base) vote have declared themselves to be "constitutional conservatives." Indeed, the opposition to health care reform was based, disingenuously but all the same, on it being unconstitutional. Therefore, I am to assume that conservatives across the land in opposition to Obama want to protect and enforce the prohibitions and protections embodied in the Constitution.
I post this Roll Call diary not only because we are long overdue for one (the last official one I did was back in September 2009), but also to reclaim the Rec List for Non-Pootie diaries.
We will all remember this day, April 1, 2010, a day that will live in infamy. When we dog lovers, cat haters (and those who are ambivalent towards pets in general) let down our guard. Never again.

We all have a desire to help the people of Haiti in any way that we can. Many of us have donated money. Some of us are volunteering.
Over at Delaware Liberal, we have a frequent commenter, Joanne Christian, who used an already scheduled trip to the Dominican Republic for vacation to volunteer at a 20 bed hospital in Santo Domingo that was helping 2,000 Haitian victims. At some point during her work, she decided that she should get some names of these people so that their family will know that they got out, although there is a likelihood that some of the people here have died of their injuries, or soon will.
BarbinMD has brought to the front page the hypocrisy of my Congressman Michael N. Castle. As she notes, it is nothing new among our current crop of Republicans, but it is also nothing new for Mike Castle. Nearly from the moment Mike Castle voted "no!!!!!" on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, he has appeared at events throughout our small state lauding stimulus projects. And we at Delaware Liberal have been documenting it.
So Beau Biden has taken the lead in his hypothetical matchup against false moderate Mike Castle (R-DE). It is what we all in Delaware expected to happen much later in this race once the campaign began in earnest (i.e. once Beau announces that he is indeed running) and once Castle’s well guarded lap dog conservative voting record is revealed to the public. Now, the pollster responsible for yesterdays poll opines that perhaps Castle’s "no" vote on healthcare reform is the catalyst for Castle’s unprecedented 26 point collapse. Well, unless the pollster asked that questions I am not sure we have a basis to attribute the collapse to a specific reason, but it is as logical an explanation as any.
Have you ever had a fight or argument with a friend or loved one where that friend or loved one's view of the circumstances and events involved in the argument was so diametrically skewed from your interpretation or understanding of those same circumstances and events that it was just impossible to resolve that argument? Where it almost appeared that you two were living in two separate realities? And because of that schism, and because of the impossibility of the resolution of that argument, you just let your relationship with that friend or loved one cease?
Yes, I have returned. Well, no, I never left really. I decided to become a lurker here while I focused more on making Delaware Liberal the best damn political blog in Delaware, and one of the best 50 state blogs out there. With family, job and keeping a state blog running keeping my plate full, you'll understand why commenting and fighting with you all here fell by the wayside.
It happens to all of us. Daily Kos has been around for 100 years in internet terms. Whole generations of users have come and go. I have lost track at what UID # we are currently at, but my guess is we are approaching 300,000, if we haven't already passed it.
That is a lot of friends and comrades to know.

Tomorrow, Governor Jack Markell (D-DE) will sit down for a "Blogger's Roundtable" with the staff of Delaware Liberal and few other Delaware blogs to discuss his proposed budget, the Delaware economy, and a host of other pressing issues.
Two first steps were taken today.
First, Senate Bill 27, a constitutional amendment to define marriage as consisting solely of the union of one man and one woman, garnered only nine supporters in the Senate out of the 21 members, failing to gain the two-thirds majority needed to approve a constitutional amendment.
Because this was the first leg of a constitutional amendment, 14 affirmative votes were needed for passage. Instead, the vote failed to even yield a simple majority for the bill.
Sen. Robert Venables, D-Laurel [a conservadem], who authored the bill, told chamber after several members spoke in opposition of the legislation that "it doesn’t sound like much I said sunk in."
Oh it sunk in all right. And it helped sink the bill. Hate and fear can only sell for so long.
Yes, I have returned from my Delawarean haunt to bring the great detective work of my fellow contributor at Delaware Liberal, Liberal Geek, who lived up to his name, as you will see. He has given me permission to repost this to Daily Kos for a wider national audience.
The Daily Kos Roll Call. A tradition since well, the beginning of time, which of course occurred on May 26, 2002.
First, please recommend this diary so that as many Kossacks as possible can participate.
